Who We Are

A group of folks who love the West

— the people and the landscapes —

what it’s been and what it can be.

The Board

Wendy Pratt - Blackfoot, ID

Wendy and her husband Mark operate a fifth generation cattle ranch in the Blackfoot, Idaho area. In an area dominated by potato pivots, the Pratts manage a diverse landscape of flood irrigated pastures. They have three children and five grandchildren. Wendy tells the story of conservation ranching at her blog: The Pastoral Muse. She is a commissioner with the Idaho Soil and Water Conservation Commission. Wendy’s 2019 TEDx talk on the benefits of well-managed grazing has garnered nearly 15,000 views.

Clayton Handy - North Logan, UT

Clayton owns and operates Handy Farms and Ag Consulting. Prior to starting his own family operation, he worked in corporate conventional agriculture as a farm manager, and agronomist. His heart and passion are now in organic and regenerative farming and ranching. It is challenging and rewarding. In addition to his own farm and ranch, Clayton works with many other small regeneratively grown and certified organic farms as both an ag consultant and marketing aggregator. He direct markets a variety of nuts and whole beef. He is happy to help in this movement.

Jesse Juen - Albuquerque, NM

Jesse and his wife Maggie grew up in the Southwest, and have lived throughout New Mexico and Arizona where Jesse served in a number of roles with USFS and BLM. He served as deputy assistant director for the BLM’s National Landscape Conservation System office in Washington, D.C. and retired as New Mexico BLM Director. Jesse’s passion for supporting stewardship of working lands and rural communities continues in a number of advisory roles for NM programs and partnerships.

President

Bre operates a small ranch in Northern CA. As a convener, she works to bring the needs and solutions of ranchers into programs, policy and communications efforts with conservation partners, while sharing resources and fostering community-led Stewardship Economies across the West. She is motivated by a love for working landscapes – for the people, land and livestock that are a part of them. She believes that agriculture at its best is conservation at its best.
